Carlton Bloc was a residential bloc located in Bucharest, Romania. Having a height of 47 m was among the tallest building of the capital until it was destroyed by the earthquake on November 10, 1940. It is located between University Square and the Roman Square, at the intersection of Nicolae Balcescu Boulevard with Ion Campineanu Street. The block had 14 levels with stores and a cinema. The building had been designed with a reinforced concrete load-bearing structure by George Matei Cantacuzino and Vasile Arion. Although it was a new construction, considered a wonder of interwar architecture, the Carlton block collapsed during the earthquake.
