Kaunas, Lithuania

1 of 8

This two-story building with an attic was designed in 1939. It was built in 1940 and was used for residential purposes. It had 8 apartments with a total of 23 rooms. It is another example of Interwar modernist architecture located on this street. The building has an elongated rectangular plan. Its facade is symmetrical, characterized by an abundance of simple geometric shapes. The central part is slightly recessed and consists of a main entrance with a canopy over the door and small rectangular stairwell windows. The side parts consist of rows of vertical rectangular windows with sill bands. The facade is modernized by corner parts with wide horizontal windows and two loggias on the second floor. In one of the corners of the building there is an entrance to the inner courtyard. The facade is decorated with metal fences of loggias and rectangular and circular niches in the wall above the first floor. The facade of the courtyard is simpler - the walls are divided by window openings of various shapes, there are also several balconies here.
