This three-story residential building was commissioned by pharmacist Vytautas Malela. The building was designed in 1933 by civil technician Leonas Cirickas. He graduated from the Kaunas Higher Technical School in 1930 and worked in the construction department of the Kaunas City Municipality until 1940. The building of Vytautas Malela, standing on the outskirts of the old town of Kaunas, has a rational and modern appearance. When designing this building, stylistic modernity, which was fashionable in Kaunas at that time, was probably aimed at. This is especially visible in the main facade. Here, the composition is created by simple geometric shapes. The first floor, which was intended for commercial premises, is divided by wide windows, and plastered in a darker color than the rest of the volume. The exterior of the second and third floors, where the apartments were rented, is divided by vertical windows and smooth wall planes. The asymmetric composition of the building is emphasized by the recessed volume in the corner, which houses the main entrance and access to the inner courtyard. This part is further emphasized by the vertical window opening of the staircase. The laconic appearance of the main facade is complemented by horizontal bands above the first and third floor and a bold cornice. The rear facade, as is typical of the period, is unplastered.
