The house on Raseiniu 26 is an excellent example of the modern urban villas in Kaunas, which is located in a neighbourhood called Zaliakalnis. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information about the building. It is believed that the architect of it is J. Udalovas; however, it is not confirmed. It was built in 1938 in the name of Vytautas Linartas and his wife, Irena Maciute-Linartiene. The construction material of this two-storey house is brick. It has a small garage next to it. Guests are greeted from the street by a porthole window, which is next to the main entrance. On the main entrance door, there is a Baltic symbol of the earth or oak tree, which is believed to protect the hearth of the family and home. Inside the building, there is a nice, ornated sliding door. Amongst all the modern attributes and interior details of the building, its attention to detail and design elements still stand out today.
Like many other houses in Kaunas, the fate of this house after the war was without its true owners. For a while, it was used as a kindergarten and later by the administration of the sports school in Krebzden. In 1995, the expatriate Irena Maciute-Linartiene donated the building to the Library-Museum. Today, the Kaunas Municipality's V. Kudirka Library is located here. The library also has a toy library section where toys and board games are loaned out to the home, just like books.
