In the modernisation period of the New town area of Kaunas, large plots started to be divided into smaller ones. The building on K. Donelacio 51 was constructed in one of those small plots. The owner S. Montvilaite-O'Rourke asked the architect Arnas Funks to design a house for her in 1936. He prepared the project of the two-storey house he started to construct in 1937. On the basement floor was the boiler room, a flat for the handyman with a small toilet and the storage area for the flats. There were luxurious flats on the first and second floors with a central hall, three rooms, a room for the servant, a kitchen and a bathroom. In the attic, there was also a one-room flat with a toilet for a single person or a guest. Since the owner belonged to the masonic women's lodge, a masonic sign was incorporated on top of the main entrance; however, the sign was not on the project.

There are horizontal stripes which were made of plaster on the ground floor. On the second floor, there is a large balcony with a rounded corner. On the balustrade of this balcony, there are circler metal elements which are matched with the original main entrance door. At the back facade, there is also another balcony; however, it is shaped as rectangular.
