Former cinema "Daina" was one of the first modern buildings of such a function built in Zaliakalnis. The building was designed in 1935 by civil engineer Antanas Breimeris and architect Stasys Kudokas. The building has an elongated, irregular rectangular plan. The exterior is modern and rational. The main facade is symmetrical, two-story. Here, the first floor is highlighted by a canopy above the main entrance and a row of circular windows. The second floor is divided by bold vertical window openings and smooth wall planes. The central part is accentuated with vertical pilasters and vertical window openings. The upper part of the facade is completed by a parapet and a thin strip of cornice, masking the pitched roof. The side parts of the building are of similar architecture, with vertical windows and flat planes. It was a modern cinema for that time, which could show sound films. Cinema was opened on February 15, 1936. There were 614 seats inside, modern film projection equipment, heating and ventilation systems were installed. Although the former cinema "Daina" building is a heritage object, it is abandoned. An interesting fact is that a similar design was adopted in 1938 when the construction of a new cinema in the city of Siauliai began (now the Siauliai Drama Theater operates there).
