After standing empty for more than 20 years, this listed Art Nouveau swimming facility dating back to 1909 was refurbished by 2014 as well as expanded into a sports- and multi-purpose swimming baths with spa and sauna area.

The design, resulting from a competition win, is characterised both by the respect shown to the existing listed building and the rich contrast created by the placement of old and new side by side. The compact extensions to the building, laid out in a clear linear sequence, form distinct spaces and blend unobtrusively with the existing building. Low-rise peripheral areas adjoin the existing buildings in ring-form, rising at the centre into three clearly emphasized cubic structures, housing spa and sauna facilities, a sport and multi-purpose pool as well as a teaching pool.
