Cafe in the Museum / Sohne & Partner architects

The focus of the Cafe is set in the center of the dome hall. To emphasize the outstanding center of the place and its characteristic setting, the whole design is oriented on the centerpiece. By arranging the furniture in the room a certain way, easy and direct access to the center and an excellent view down into the arrival hall and the restaurant is ensured.

The bar is placed in the center and the staircase and functions as a worthy reception to all visitors this way. If needed the bar furniture can easily be converted into a buffet. Also, all the other furniture elements are flexible and can be displaced as required by rollers. Just like the furniture also the mobile displays are arranged to segments of circles. They do not require a fixed power supply because of the use of batteries and can be set up anyplace in the room. Different heights of tables and chairs are one more zoning element in this design.

Room dividers and table bases are equipped with sound-absorbing materials to improve the acoustic in the dome hall. The partially upholstered furniture also contributes to that. The colors of the design are aligned primarily to the colors of the exhibition rooms of the museum. This design is a competition entry and will not be built.
