The increase of carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere is leading to an increase in global temperature, which in turn raises the sea levels. This project speculates on a utopian future where Rio is no longer part of continental Brazil but rather a recently formed archipelago, caused by the dramatic raise of the sea up to 50 meters. In this new scenario, all mid-to-high class neighbourhoods would submerge underwater and the favelas would become the new historic centres. The new urban conditions would also place the favelas as new interfaces of public space between land and sea.

This project was awarded a honourable mention and was exhibited in Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles.
