About Change this

Mináry Olga was born in 1929 in Budapest. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University in 1951. She started working as an assistant professor at the Department of Freehand Drawing.
From 1954 she participated on competitions.
"I usually took part in competitions where I could solve the problem alone, both conceptually and also regarding the realization of the drawings."

She practiced architecture with Janáky István. From 1955 she worked in the Industrial Plan Office where she coordinated huge industrial projects (Kofe, Borsodi Brewery, Gabonatröszt Silóprogram, Péti Ammonium Factory in Petfurdo , GDR Breweries etc).
In addition to industrial buildings she designed office buildings (Alutröszt headquarters at the Danube), health facilities (OTKI operating block) and she was also teaching at the Technical University of Budapest.

Thanks to her knowledge of languages she took part in numerous international conferences. In 1964 she won a five-month French Government Scholarship. A German newspaper issued an article about her. In the 70s she designed several residential buildings in Italy.

Olga Minary's oeuvre characterized by well designed multi-unit residential buildings with exciting spatial organization and taking into account the architectural requirements of the era. In 1964 she won - as the first woman - the most prestigious architectural award, the Ybl prize for designing a house in the Obuda experimental housing estate.
