The Teacher house was built on the site of the previous building which was demolished in World War II. It was the first skyscraper at Alexanderplatz. Together with the congress hall forms an architectural ensemble on Alexanderplatz.
The 12 storey skyscraper in a box shape of 44 × 15m floor area, is a typical solution for the architecture of post-war modernism. The construction is build in a steel frame with a glass-aluminum curtain wall. The third and four floor is covered by a seven meters high and 127 meters long frieze by Walter Womacka and is influenced by Mexican murals. the whole complex is under the monument protection.
