Raymond Jules Lopez was a modernist architect and urban planner. In 1958 was appointed to work on the master plan of Paris. His vision of town planning was to demolish the existing constructions and replace them with new rational and structured buildings, based essentially on a vertical distribution. He participated in numerous town planning schemes such as Dakar, Nevers, Sainte-Menehould , Saint-Valery-en-Caux and Nantes. He is best known for the development plan of the priority development of the Val-Fourre in Mantes-la-Jolie. He was a professor at the School of Architecture , at the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees and then at the Ecole Polytechnique .
