The Villa Markelius was the home of the architect Sven Markelius built between 1928 and 1930. White inspired by Le Corbusier, the villa stands on a hill above the lake opening to him as close to the view from the street. Villa Markelius became a meeting place for foreign colleagues. Here lived Alvar Aalto and his master Le Corbusier, when he visited Stockholm in 1933. In 1938 Markelius sold his house after his divorce from Viola Wahlestedt and moved to public housing in Kungsholmen in Stockholm.
