Sou Fujimoto is a Japanese architect born in Hokkaido in 1971. He studied architecture through the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo University and graduated in 1994. Following this, he then founded Sou Fujimoto Architects in 2000.
In 2005 Fujimoto started to gain visibility when he won the prestigious international AR - Architectural Review Awards in the Young Architects category, an award which he then won consecutively for three years.
In 2008 Sou Fujimoto published "Primitive Future", which was the year's best-selling architecture book. In 2013 Fujimoto was selected to design the a temporary pavilion at the Serpentine Gallery in London.
Fujimoto's architecture often features permeable spaces that bridge the natural and the artificial. His designs are ever in search of new forms that will no doubt continue to evolve in the future.
