COBE Berlin is a progressive and contemporary community of architects that focuses on architecture, urban design, public space to large-scale urban planning, and research.
In 2005 Vanessa Miriam Carlow and Dan Stubbergaard founded COBE in Copenhagen. The name COBE is derived from the two cities the founders are coming from - COpenhagen and BErlin. Since its establishment, COBE has gained international recognition through the realization of beautiful and innovative projects. Their work has garnered prestigious prizes such as the Golden Lion of the 2006 Venice Biennale as contribution to the Danish Pavilion.
Today, COBE is two separate companies: COBE Berlin GmbH founded and headed by Prof. Dr. Vanessa Miriam Carlow in October 2012, and COBE in Copenhagen, led by Dan Stubbergaard. The two offices have shared a number of projects in the past, and apart from developing projects individually, they continue to share and collaborate on selected projects - also in the future.
Complimenting her work as practicing architect, Vanessa Miriam Carlow is committed to teaching and excellence in research with strong focus on sustainable urban design. In 2012 Vanessa was appointed full professor at Technische Universitat Braunschweig where she heads the Institute for Sustainable Urbanism ISU and serves as co-speaker of the university's research centre Future City.
