This rustic cabin is designed as a summer work studio and campsite. It is sited at the edge of a field with the porch oriented west towards the view. The cabin is wider and taller in the living/working area, and it narrows down to the sleeping area. The glazing is increased on the southern exposure and reduced on the northern exposure. The cost savings strategy include using 60 year pressure treated wood footings, simple structural plans, single layer plywood exterior with batten weather-stripping, and limiting the quantity of operable windows to where cross-ventilation is required. The cost of construction was $35 per square foot.
