The Fields House, better known as Case Study House No. 18 B was the one that was more successful in the series of Case Study Houses of Craig Ellwood. In this house Ellwood introduced many improvements over the previous ones. One of the most significant improvements was the preconstruction factory structure and combining this with other pre-built elements such as walls, floors. With a simple rectangular design, the house is divided into two separate sections. The front of the house is facing the street and the parking area was protected by a translucent glass. This allowed to enter the light, but allowed some privacy inside. Another standard feature was the sliding doors in the living spaces of the house that overlooked the terrace and a pool for entertaining guests or family.
