This was one of Lisbon's expansion areas, northwards, after the 18th century earthquake. In the 19th century the Principe Real's garden was planted and all the new aristocracy, titles given by Marques de Pombal to the upper Bourgeoisie, was looking at this place to build their own palaces. This Palace is one of those examples. A 4 floor eclectic building which has spatial, material and historical qualities to be kept. Our strategy to respect the Palace's morphology was to create one apartment per floor with very generous areas, therefore going against the real estate market tendency. The design is made in a continuum timeline and even the new areas, which needed more intervention and invention, are blended with the existent such as the terrace on the top floor as well as the swimming pool in the basement.
