This glass pavilion was erected as part of the second building section of the Karl-Marx-Allee project which was planned and constructed by a collective led by the architect Josef Kaiser. Originally it was planned as an exhibition space for arts and crafts from the Soviet Union. After the inauguration of the whole complex which also included the adjacent Cafe Moskau, the Mokka-Milch ice cream bar and further commercial an residential buildings, the building was used from 1965 to 1992 as a beauty parlour, the Kosmetiksalon Babette. From 2003 until today it has been a bar.
