Fernando Castillo Velasco (15 of August 1918 - 18 of July 2013) was one of the most important Chilean architects. His his works are the Residential Complex Torres de Tajamar and the Vecales Portal Unit. These references of the modern architecture, demonstrate this innovative character of its designs generating a huge contribution and value to the Latin American architecture.

In his first period his works were marked by Expressionism, inspired by the architecture of Le Corbusier, with structural and technological features. Over time his architecture was directed towards the organic architectural positions of Frank Lloyd Wright, as can be observed in community houses, where he wanted to establish a more direct relationship with the user. One of his important works is LA Quinta Michita, constructed between the years 1977 and 1984, that incorporated a system based on bricks, trying to recreate the cite.

Velasco was awarded with the Gold Medal in the IX Quito Biennial, Fundacion Futuro Award and finally last July a section of the Larrain Avenue in La Plaza Clorinda Henriquez located in La Reina in Santiago was renamed with its name.
