The Youth Palace was constructed in the end if the 1960s by A.Tarkhanyan, G. Poghosyan, S. Khachikyan and M. Zaqaryan. Resembling and often called a giant corncob, the Youth Palace was a large building on the fringe of central Yerevan, with a hotel, swimming pool, marriage hall (ZAKS), and other facilities. The building was demolished in early 2006 to be replaced by a 5-star hotel.
