Vito Sangirardi was born in Palo del Colle in the province of Bari on November 2, 1909. In 1932 he graduated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. In Naples he worked for a few years as a painter. In 1938 he graduated at the Royal University of Architecture. Before the war he returned to Puglia. In the post-war years he moved to Bari, where had also his studio. In 1960 he was elected president of the Order of Architects of Puglia, maintaining the position until 1971. In this role he participated in debates on urban development.
