Rudolf Weisser

Weisser, Rudolf was a local urbanist in the city of Karl-Marx-Stadt, where he had a major influence on the reorganization of the city center.

His early works, such as "Annenschule" school was completed in 1952. The 1958 building that now houses the Chamber of Industry and Commerce betrays vaguely traditional influences, although it is this building that would mark the return to modernity in Karl-Marx-Stadt after twenty-five years of constant interruptions. Other conceptions of Rudolf Weisser are the skyscraper/ palace Rosenhof (Rose Garden) and the reconstruction of a theater, destroyed by a fire.

His most important achievement remains the complex of the City Hall Chemnitz, and Hotel Congress, built between 1968 and 1974 and is one of the most significant post-war architecture pieces in the city. Weisser was awarded the National Prize of the GDR.
