Francesca Torzo [Padova 1975] studies in TU Delft, ETSAB Barcelona, Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio and IUAV in Venezia. She developed the diploma by Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio - CH - and graduated with honours by IUAV in Venezia - IT - in 2001 with Peter Zumthor, prof. Umberto Tubini, arch. Miguel Kreisler, eng. Jurg Conzett. In 2001 she develops an experimental dry construction in stone together with eng. Jurg Conzett and HTW, Chur. In 2001-2002 works as project architect by Peter Zumthor architekturburo, Haldenstein, and in 2003 by Bosshard Vaquer architekten, Zurich.
Atelier Francesca Torzo has been established in Genoa since 2007. Since 2009 Torzo has been teaching as an assistant at the Atelier Bearth, Accademia di Architettura of Mendrisio. With her practice she has won competitions for contemporary art galleries, educational buildings, residential projects and archaeological sites, each with a focus on the research of innovative building systems and the local specificity of the interventions. From 2017 is professor at Bergen Arkitekthogskole.
