Robert Konieczny - an architect, founder of KWK Promes and member of the French Academie d'Architecture. His conceptual approach to design leads to regular experiments and researches, whose aim is to improve the functionality of buildings and space.

Robert Konieczny graduate from Architecture at Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. In 1996 he received the certificate of New Jersey Institute of Technology. A leader and a founder of KWK Promes architecture studio established in 1999. Konieczny was twelve times nominee of the European Award of Mies van der Rohe Foundation and in 2012 he became Foundation's independent expert.

In 2016 National Museum - Dialogue Centre Przelomy in Szczecin was announced to be The Best Public Space in Europe by Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona in the competition European Prize for Urban Public Space. The same project was found World Building of the Year 2016 in the international competition World Architecture Festival. This award first time in the history went to Poland. The latest award for architect is the title of the Best New Private House in worldwide competition Wallpaper Design 2017 for the Konieczny's Ark.

Earlier, he received the prestigious award for the House of the Year 2006, winning with the Aatrial House as the best housing project in a competition organized by World Architecture News. In 2007 the KWK Promes office was listed among 44 best young architects of the world published by 'Scalae'. Same year the 'Wallpaper' magazine issued Konieczny's practice as one of the 101 most exciting architecture studios in the world. Year 2008 brought him another prize of The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum for Europe's Emerging Young Architects 'Europe 40 under 40' while the International Jury of Museum of Architecture and Design in Chicago put the Aatrial House and the Hidden House on the list of the best houses in the world. In 2009 the Safe House was in the World Architecture Festival Awards 2009 final among the best realizations in the world and the OUTrial House was a finalist of LEAF Awards 2009 in Berlin for its innovatory design.

In 2011 Robert Konieczny was awarded by the Minister of Culture in Poland for his outstanding achievements in the field of architecture as a second architect ever gaining this kind of prize. Konieczny is one of the most frequently published abroad polish architects. His realizations appeared in the books of most important architectural publishers like Phaidon or Taschen as well as prestigious magazines such as Architectural Review, Area, The Plan, Casabella, Mark Magazine, Detail, Wallpaper or Icon. In Hans Ibelings book "European Architecture since 1890", KWK Promes studio is the only Polish studio mentioned concerning the architecture after 1989.

In 2018 Robert took part in Time Space Existence exhibition in Palazzo Bembo, an official collateral event of Venice Architecture Biennale and in Vita Contemplativa exhibition in famous Architektur Galerie Berlin. In 2017 one of KWK Promes's projects has been a part of Ways of Life Experimenta Urbana exhibition in Kassel, Germany, along with other innovative projects from around the world. Aside from that the studio took part in events like Prague Architecture Week or traveling exhibition of Architecture Gallery in Brno. Konieczny's designs have also been exhibited in the United States, Austria and Switzerland. He has now completed his individual Moving Architecture exhibition at Architektur Galerie in Berlin, which was recognized by Wallpaper magazine as one of the best architectural exhibitions of the world this year.
