Bernd Faskel obtained his diploma from the Technical University of Berlin in 1970. Until 1975 he worked as freelance architect in various working groups and architectural firms. From 1975 until 1980 he was an assistant at the Technical University of Berlin, in the fields of energy-saving construction and solar architecture. From 1975 to 83 he has his own architectural office and project-related cooperation with, among others, Oswald Mathias Ungers (including urban planning for Friedrichstadt) and Vladimir Nikolic (energy saving for IBA Berlin). From 1990 until 1993 he was Planning Officer of the Senator for Urban Development and Environmental Protection of Berlin. Since 1993 he has architectural office with Uwe Becker, based in Berlin (Faskel & Becker).
