Description Change this

The Culture House of Ortuella in Vizcaya province was conceived with the idea of addressing its immediate environment. It is set perpendicularly to the main street so that it looks from one side of the valley to another and can see and be seen from a distance. By creating a pedestrian route, the operation joins the main street to a square. The building takes shape through bands of varying dimensions that go about defining solids and hollows, giving the spaces hierarchy and flexibility. A ground level difference serves to organize the program through separate entrances and the opportunity to fragment the space by creating independent rooms. The project molds the volume in response to the topography of the square and makes the roofs the fifth facade looking around it. Rust on the materials brings back the region’s mining past.
