Carlo Mollino's Hotel The House of Sun represents a contrast to the existing archetypal mountain village. The building was developed as an idea of a "vertical village" and composed in this tall 9-storey concrete building with its protruding facade and hanging terraces. The hotel dominates the local landscape but it is integrated into the natural landscape using mountain materials, stone and wood, and an extravagant asymmetric wooden hut on its top.

Mollino designed the hotel like a modern residence with living modules, with restaurant, laundrette, minimarket and garage. Architect designed all furniture in 1953.

The House of Sun is a distinctive landmark of the world-renowned winter sport resort of Cervinia.
