Description Change this

After the destruction of the Neo-Gothic Christ Church in the Belgian Quarter of Cologne, the tower and the magnificent vaulted cellar were restorated and a church hall was added, which is now need to repair.

The Christchurch has a great significance. It is a 100 years old community center and symbol for the Evangelical Christians in Cologne. After Ulm Minster Lutheran church, the Christchurch is the tallest church in Germany. One of the most important architectural memorial.

During the design process, a large number of concept version was analyzed. Entitled as 'Living in the church wall', the associtaion of hollenbeck.plato Architekten and Maier Architekten won the the competition in 2008.

Two emphatic, sculptural masses are designed on the both side of the tower. Between the two wings a multifunctional worship space is situated. Its transparent structure amplify the vigorous wings' physical presence.
